There is significant archaeology in the immediate area which is well covered in this proposal. It is anticipated that a full excavation will be done ahead of development so the Society recommends that the Planning Archaeologist should provide a suitable clause for any consent granted. Very little provision for parking is proposed: less than one parking space for two units, which would lead to on-road parking in the conservation area, contrary to the applicant?s view. This would affect enjoyment of the town within the conservation area. This is over development because of the ratio of parking to units and should be refused because of the impact that additional on-road parking would have within the conservation area.
